For keen outdoors people, your base at Torokiki is a great place to explore the wider area. Or if you’re feeling quieter sit back and enjoy the mountain views, have a sauna, read a book, or go for a gentle walk.
Our location allows easy access to the nearby Waimakariri River, Alpine Jet Thrills tours, Rubicon Valley horse treks, and Mt Oxford walks. The local (and world-renowned) Craigieburn Valley ski fields are all less than an hour away. Porters Alpine Resort is just over the Porters Pass hill, and the club fields of Cheeseman, Broken River and Craigieburn are a short driver further on down the valley, with Mt Olympus ski field sitting alongside Lake Coleridge. And Mt Hutt ski field is a short drive further south.
There are a number of local walks including Kowai Bush (adjacent to Torokiki), Trig M and Foggy Peak (off Porters Pass), and a network of walks around Castle Hill and further towards Arthurs Pass. There are also a network of mountain bike trails in the Craigieburn Valley, with great options for all levels.
